The idea is that we all write a sentence or two about what we know about how planes fly to show our learning about Flight.
You can come back here and change what you have written if you change your thoughts.
Remember to sign your name so we know who you are.
Write your text underneath this sentence. I have added the first comment to show you how it will go.
- I have never really understood how such heavy things as aeroplanes manage to get off the ground. By the end of this study I am sure I will know. Miss K
- Watching planes land and take off. Fred (aka Mr B)
- Jamie thinks this plane looks like a trimaran.
- I have always wondered how those flaps you see on each wing of a jumbo jet works. It make me nervous when I can't see them moving. And how those huge jets take off with such a heavy load. By the end of this unit, I hope I will find out the answer. Mrs.V
- First week of this term is over. It's impressive about what Moturoa class knows about flight. We brainstormed what they know of things that flies and then categorised them into "Powered", "Natural-Living", and "Motorless". Some could not place either Powered or Motorless category for a Glider. Hmm I wonder about that too, don't they have any motor in case of emergency? I must find that out.Mrs.V.
- Well done Mrs V. You are getting really good at adding to the wiki. It will be exciting when we get to set our questions for research and study and then have a go at making some flying inventions. Miss K
- We are going to use the internet to find out more. By Ruby
- Yesterday we saw some very cool movies on flight. By Maddi and Susa
- We hope we find out more about flight in our research. By Emily and Jessica

Mind Reader Web Site
- I am a genius I worked out how the mind reader tells the number. Go to the comments on the wiki home page to find out how!! By Maddi.
- A good effort Maddison. For those of you who don't know what we're talking about I put a link in blue to the Mind Reader game. Give it a try. Nothing to do with Flight- just pure mystery and fun! Miss K
- I'm just going to make something that flies. If I finish it I'll bring it to school tomorrow. I'll explain how it works then. Its called the flying turtle. Theres a little hint in the name! Ruby
- Way to go Ruby. I have heard of flying pigs and flying fish but I am not so sure about flying turtles! I can't wait! Miss K
- It was fun working in our groups today and finding the faces Gloria
- Those faces are a fun way to sort people in to groups. Miss K

- Hi there. Your wiki is developing into a wonderful library on flight. I will be able to come back later and learn more about how things fly from your writing. Mrs H
- Mrs H made a big mistake writing her whole name. Miss K changed it for her.
- Its really awesome having a wiki because we can communicate and share photos and ideas. We enjoyed looking at the photos. Thank you Wakefield. And did you see a plane take off ??? From Sam J and Braden R
- We are looking forward to Hayden coming to Appleby to show us and fly his remote control plane. Elliott & Nathan

- Hi everyone. I am amazed at all of things that you are learning about flight and I really like this way of sharing your thoughts and ideas. I'm going to show this to the teachers at Brightwater and then we might be able to do something similar. It's a cool way to learn from each other. Do you have any photos of the flying turtle? I'm fascinated by hot air balloons. Do you know how they fly? I'd really like to go in one one day. Once I flew in a small four seater plane from Timaru to Whangarei, that really was fun, but it took a long time. I'll come back again soon to see what else you have learnt. Mrs G
- We have been to the airport to find out facts. We got to go up in the tower and drive a passenger plane and a helicopter. By Jackson P
- I think we all had lots of fun with whatever we were all doing. On the end of the right wing is a green light and the left one has a red one so that the other planes flying beside them know which way they are facing to it. By Jillian
- There is a light on each wing. They are red and green. The red is on the port side and green is on the starboard side. By Emily

- Justin from Hope School is impressed with our wiki. He thinks we are really clever people.
- So much for the homework writers! You did lots of wonderful things for your homework though. I loved Jillian's bread. We look forward to Jillian's bread.

Look at how clever the children in Miss K's class are. They have really got the hang of it now. When we have come to grips with wiki and the podcasts we will have a go at making our own web sites. How flash will that be? Miss K
